The calcium acetylide molecute was synthesised in the gas phase by the reaction at calcium vapor with acetylene, Laser-induced iluorescence was used to rotationally analyse the $A¯2\Pi -x¯2\Sigma +$ transition of the CaCCH molecule. This molecule proved to be ionic in nature $(Ca+-CCH)$ and linear in geometry. The low resolution analysis and the A-doubling constant of the CaCCH molecule indicate that the $B¯2\Sigma +$ state is either distant from the $A2\Pi$ State or dissociative. The molecular parameters of this molecule were determined from the analysis and will be discussed.
