Abstract

Using picosecond time domain $reflectometry^{1}$, dielectric relaxation studies have been carried out for aniline-methanol and p-fluorophenylacetonitrile (FMA) -methanol mixtures over the frequency range 10 MHz at various temperatures. The excess dielectric properties, kirkwood correlation factor and thermodynamic properties of the mixtures have been determined. The kirkwood correlation factor of pure FPA is found to be 0.4, although FPA is highly polar in nature (u=4.85D), suggesting antiparallel orientation of its electric dipoles. The excess properties in the mixtures provide useful structural information, which will be discussed.
