Description

Community in Motion is an initiative that promotes the use of physical activity as a primary means of disease prevention. More specifically this is a collaborative program designed to help residents better utilize the network of resources that already exist in their communities. This presentation will highlight strategies I've used to engage the private sector and develop partnerships that advance health. Emphasis will be placed on those tactics that serve to strengthen the means for implementation. The intended audience is community wellness stakeholders looking for ways to take their concepts from paper to practice. My expertise in this area comes from nearly a decade of both didactic and experiential work in the health/fitness industries. I'm a doctor of physical therapy, exercise consultant, and former Division-1 collegiate athlete. In my current role, I spend a great deal of my time working with community stakeholders to determine the most effective ways to address our areas greatest needs. The concepts behind Community in Motion have been derived from these ongoing efforts.
