Abstract

The far red MCD spectra of aquohalide and pyridine chelates of Mn (III) dimethyl proto and etio porphyrin have been measured and used to tentatively assign the spectrum. The lowest energy absorption band is identified as an $Eu^{*}$ $d\pi^{*}\leftarrow {d}\pi$ transition and two other bands are identified as charge transfer bands, thus generally confirming $Boucher’s^{1}$ interpretation of the spectra.
