“The first three members of the methyl haloform series $(CH3-CX3; X=F,Cl,Br)$ have been investigated. The Raman spectra of the liquids have been obtained. All the fundamentals, with the exception of the inactive torsional mode, were observed, and in most cases it was possible to make qualitative determinations, of the polarization states of the bands. The completely deuterated compounds were synthesized, and their spectra examined in order to confirm the assignments made for the light compounds.”
