Abstract

This report considers three problems in the evaluating mean gravity anomalies from potential coefficients, or the formation of observation equations for gravity data for use in solutions combining satellite and gravimetric data. The first problem considered was the errors caused by not integrating sin mλ, cos mλ and Legendre functions in the basic equations over a block. The second problem examined the accuracy of various equations used to compute anomalies from potential coefficients considering precise anomaly definition. Finally, the use of ellipsoidal harmonics for combination solutions is discussed with specific computational formulas being given.
