A frontal, full-length portrait of Amy Lowell in a print dress and a black overcoat. She stands in the garden holding a cane in her left hand and clutching a paper in her right. This is the first example of the artist utilizing the color reduction woodcut process. Large preparatory watercolor sketches were prepared the same year, but they more closely resemble a later composition titled Amy and the Butterflies [CMA 2001.034.281].
