Abstract

At low temperature an increasing of the vibrational energy transfer probability between molecules is observed. This effect is important when $\frac{{h}\Delta\nu}{{kT}}$ < 0.1 ($\Delta\nu$ is the difference of vibrational energy between the two colliding partners). The usual theories taking into account interactions involving long range forces cannot explain the observed trend. The discrepancies between theories and results will be analyzed.
