Abstract

I will be working in Dr. Amy Lovett-Racke’s multiple sclerosis research laboratory at Ohio State University. I have volunteered in her lab since January of 2018. I will intern in her lab for 11 weeks, starting on May 6th and ending on July 19th. During this time, I will have the opportunity to work a variety of different research job and learn different research skills from Dr. Lovett-Racke and my mentor, who is a post-doctoral researcher. Some of the opportunities I will have are immunizing mice, understanding breeding schemes for projects, genotyping and running PCR, cell culture, and overall care of mice and project data analysis. I will also be able to sit in on lab meetings and report the work I have done for the week, as well as listen to what other members of the team have accomplished. At the end of my time in the research lab, I will have experienced what research is like day to day and what it is like to work all aspects of a laboratory job.
