Abstract

High resolution spectra of the 2-0 through 6-0 vibrational-rotational bands of the hydrogen deuteride molecule have been obtained using the Kitt Peak Solar FTS at a resolving power in excess of 600,000. Measurements were made on a room temperature gas sample contained in a 2-meter White cell. Pressure ranging, form 200 to 1400 torr were used at a pathlength of 56 meters. Line positions, pressure shifts, intensities, and line profiles have been determined. A value for the self-broadening pressure-broadening coefficient has been determined from nonlinear least-squares fits to a Galatry model. Additionally, a set of equilibrium constants will be presented based on these and other precision line positions. $^{*}$Research supported in part by grants to Denison University from The Research Corporation and the Denison University Research Foundation and to California Institute of Technology from NASA Grant NGL 05-002-003. $^{+}$Visiting Astronomers, Kitt Peak National Observatory, operated by AURA Inc., under contract with NSF.
