Abstract

Infrared spectra of single crystals of $KN_{3}$ have been measured at room and liquid nitrogen temperatures using a Model 421 Perkin-Elmer infrared spectrometer. Assignments were made of more than fifty bands, including fundamental and numerous lattice combinations, in the spectral region between 4000 and 550 wave numbers. Selection rules for the crystalline azide were computed using the unit-cell method of Bhagavantum and $Venkatarayudu^{1}$
