Abstract

A variety of properties connected with the transition dipole moment function are calculated in terms of the $OK^{1}$ wavefunctions for $Li_{2}$. Among them are the gain cross section for the $^{3}\Sigma^{+}_{g} \rightarrow\ ^{3}\Sigma^{+}_{u}$ emission, the photodissociation cross section for the $^{3}\Sigma^{+}_{u} \rightarrow\ ^{3}\Pi^{+}_{g}$ transition, and certain radiative lifetimes. We find, for example, $\tau \simeq 19$ ns for the $A^{1}\Sigma^{+}_{u}$ state in grind agreement with recent $measurements.^{2}$
