Abstract

The absorption spectrum of nitrogen has been investigated with a 6.65 m vacuum spectrograph in the 650-1000 $\AA$ region. Rotational analysis of the $c_{4}^{\prime}(v) ^{1}\Sigma_{u}^{+} \leftarrow X^{1}\Sigma_{g}^{+}$ bands, the upper state of which is the lowest member of the Rydberg series converging to the $X^{2}\Sigma_{g}^{+}$ state of $N_{2}^{+}$, was carried out. Strong interaction between the $c_{4}{^{\prime}}$ and $b^{\prime}(v)$ levels was observed and the detailed deperturbation procedure applied to those levels will be discussed.
