Abstract
Mollie Blackburn describes her career as a Professor in the College of Education and Human Ecology at OSU. Before earning her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania, Blackburn was a middle school teacher. Her employment at OSU began in 2001 as an Assistant Professor. Since then she has earned tenure and promotion to Associate Professor and full Professor. After she was hired, Blackburn helped found the Middle Childhood Education Program in the College of Education and Human Ecology, and she helped to develop programs in Sexuality Studies and Literacy Studies. Blackburn also volunteered in the Columbus community with a local queer youth group center, a teacher inquiry group called Pink TIGers, and community-based book discussion groups. Her research is on queer identities and sexualities, and she is interested in making schools safe and beneficial environments to all children, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender, or race. Blackburn also discusses equity issues in her college and department.
