Abstract

We report the observation of the first rotationally resolved electronic spectrum of a Van der Waals species containing multiple heavy rare gas atoms complexed to an open-shell molecule. This novel species yields important new data for systems having shallow potential minima and unquenched electronic angular momentum. We present the origin bands, initially observed by Heaven and $co-workers^{1}$, which owe intensity to the $A^{2}\Sigma^{+}\leftarrow X^{2}\Pi_{3/2}$ transitions in OH/D. A preliminary analysis will be presented, and these results will be interpreted in terms of probable geometries for the system.
