Abstract

Emission, absorption, and fluorescence band spectra have been obtained from a mixture of mercury and thallium vapors with a dispersion of 1.31 {\AA}/mm in the red and 0.873 {\AA}/mm in the near ultraviolet. One band system, with maximum intensity at 3808 {\AA}, occurred in absorption. The same system and five additional systems were emitted both by Tesla coil excitation and by sensitized fluorescence with cooled mercury are source. The maxima of intensity were at 3808, 4585, 5225, 5385, and 6558 {\AA}, with two closely overlapping systems occurring in the red region. A vibration analysis has been obtained for the blue and red band systems.
