Abstract

Absorption due to ammonia lines broadened by hydrogen has been measured between $2200 cm^{-1}$ and $2000 cm^{-1}$. The observed absorption appears to be predominantly due to the far wings of lines in the vibration-rotation bands of ammonia near 3 a, 6 a and 10 a. The shapes of the far wings of ammonia lines collision-broadened by hydrogen are derived.
