Abstract

This paper is based on a report issued by an Ohio State University Ad Hoc Task Force which was formed to investigate alternative methods for obtaining bibliographic records from sources outside the Cataloging Department of the Ohio State University Libraries. In this paper, three alternatives are discussed: commercial vendors; cooperative cataloging; and the use of temporary help. The conclusion that was reached by the Task Force was that the use of cooperative cataloging is the best alternative for the Ohio State University Libraries from both practical and economical points of view.
