Abstract
In collaboration with The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and the Osu Biomedical Engineering Team, Ohio State Industrial Design students were presented the opportunity to design a solution that will achieve a more efficient and user friendly experience through the implementation of transport ventilators. The objective will account for the comfort and success of the patient and associated stakeholders consisting of Nurse Practitioners, RespiratoryTherapists, and Physicians.Vent2 is a transport ventilation cart that will accompany medical staff during an intra-hospital patient transportation. Vent2 was designed to anchor into exposed footboard insert ports with an implemented guide rail enabling the cart to move in unison with the hospital bed. The guide rail implements a tube and cord track system along with designated placement locations to encompass two oxygen tanks, an oxygen cord management hook, and an above platform to fasten and secure the, patient connected, transport ventilator.
