Abstract
The structure of the XeHCl complex has been determined by molecular beam electric resonance spectroscopy. Spectroscopic constants for the $^{132}XeH.^{ 35}\;Cl$ isotopic species are: \begin{eqnarray*} (B+C)/2&=& 989.262(5)\;MHz\\ D_{J}&=&3.84(32)\;KHz\\ \mu_{a}&=&1.090(3)\;D\\ eqO_{a}^{Cl}&=&-34.640(20)\;MHz \end{eqnarray*} The vibrationally averaged bond length is 4.258 {\AA}. The Xe-Cl-H angle is $34.8^{\circ}$, determined from the projection of the $^{35}\;Cl$ quadrupole coupling constant onto the a-axis, XeHCl is similar to ArHCl, but has a smaller bond angle and a more rigid bond. Unanalyzed splittings of several MHz, due to the $^{131}Xe$ quadrupole interaction, are observed in the microwave spectrum of $^{131} XeH^{35}\;Cl$.
