Abstract

The bismuth hydride (BiH) and bismuth deuteride (BiD) molecules were synthesized in a heat pipe oven by the high temperature reaction between the bismuth metal vapor and hydrogen (deuterium). The vibration-rotation spectra of the 1-0 fundamental band and several hot bands with Δv=1 were recorded using a diode laser spectrometer. The analysis of these spectra to obtain the ro-vibrationl constants of the BiH and BiD molecules will be presented and discussed.
