Abstract

The microwave spectrum of the CIO radical in the 2Π1/2 and 2Π1/2 states has been observed by passing a mixture of chlorine and oxygen gases through microwave discharge. The analysis of the spectrum gave the rotational constants, magnetic hyperfine coupling constants, A-type doubling constant, chlorine nuclear quadrupole coupling constant, and spin-orbit coupling constant. The equilibrium internuclear distance was estimated to be 1.569±0.001\AA.
