Abstract

Strong absorption spectra of AIH have been obtained during the flash photolysis of aluminum borohydride. The spectra extend to about $1600 {\AA}$ in the vacuum ultraviolet. Even although this corresponds to an energy which must be close to the ionization potential of AIH, Rydberg series are not prominent. In addition to absorption from the ground state, strong absorption spectra have been observed from $A^{1}$II, the first excited state of AIH.
