Abstract
The vacuum-ultraviolet photolysis of germane and the four deuterogermanes isolated in an argon matrix at temperatures between $4^{\circ}$ and $25^{\circ} K$ produces significant concentrations of several reactive species. Assignments of stretching frequencies have been made to a pyramidal $GeH_{3}$ molecule and a non-linear $GeH_{2}$ molecule. Tentative assignments of the bending frequencies have also been made. Digermane and the products of its photolysis are also produced and contribute considerably to the infrared spectra in the region below $1000 cm^{-1}$.
