Abstract

The dynamics of the formation and decay of triplet excimers for a series of dinaphthylalkanes have been studied in fluid media at room temperature through their absorption and emission spectra. The formation rate of triplet excimers exhibits a dependence on the methylene chain length, while the decay rate is relatively insensitive to the length of the methylene chain. Radiative and nonradiative processes in these systems, including their deuteration, solvent and temperature dependences, will be presented in some detail.
