Abstract

The 950-980 Angstrom absorption profiles of the $X\to N_{2} k(b^{1}II_{u}) (v^{\prime} = 3,4,5)$ and $p^{1} {^{1}}\Sigma_{u}^{+}$ bands in $N_{2}$ have been measured at pressure-path length 10-1000 times lower than previous measurements. The oscillator strengths determined, extrapolated to zero pressure, confirm the relative intensities of the electron collision spectra of Meyer, Skerbele, and $Lassettre.^{1}$ Experimental oscillator strengths will be given and the dependence of apparent f-values correlated with the diffuseness of the levels. Supported by NASA grant NsG-414.
