Abstract

High airmass observations of the sun with the McMath Solar Telescope of Kitt Peak National Observatory and its associated Fourier transform spectrometer show several weak branches of the $O_{2}a^{1}\Delta g\rightarrow X^{3}\Sigma g^{-}$ band, observed here for the first time. Lines due to $O^{15}O^{15}$ are quite strong in these spectra, and good band constants can be derived for this isotopic form. The positions of these lines in the AFCL compilation are found to be in error by up to $40 cm^{-1}$, and the O branch is incorrectly shown degraded to the blue there. Although the lines of $O^{16}O^{17}$ are quite weak and most are masked, a few can be clearly identified. A number of quadrupole lines are also observed, with the $T_{S}$ branch being, as usual, the strongest and cleanest. Finally, the broad dip due to dimer oxygen is strongly present.
