Abstract

While the entire discrete He2 spectrum between 2800−11,500\AA is being reinvestigated, the emphasis of this paper will be on the states which are the first stable members of the eight principle Rydberg series: 2sσ1,3Σu+;2pπ1,2Πg;3pσ1,2Σg+;3dσ,π,δ1,3Σu+,1,3Πu,1,3Δu The general lack of vibrational data and the almost complete absence of transitions involving npσ MO's have been remedied, as can be seen from the following partial listing of molecular constants. ωexωeyωesωeBensσA1Σg+1860.5734.64−0.1787.779enpσC1Σg+\dag1653.4541.140.415−0.14o7.0695npσC2Σg+1595.7163.995.25−.9677.000 The effects of l-uncoupling on the 3d complex, as well as certain aspects of the dissociations of the various states, will also be discussed.
