A later version of Wallace Stevens depicted as The Stroller [CMA 2001.034.021], this one printed from two plates. The loosely drawn author walks along a path in the lower plate, juxtaposed against a photo-etched diagram of a Corinthian column capital in the upper. The etching's first state [CMA 2013.057.083] was printed with green ink on the upper plate and black on the lower. The second state [CMA 2013.057.084] was printed with red ink on the lower plate and black on the upper. An early-state impression titled Classical Scholar I [CMA 2013.057.082] has a larger top plate that was later cut down to the width of the lower plate.
