Abstract

The structures of the isoelectronic molecules 2-oxazoline, [FIGURE] and 2,3-dihydrofuran, [FIGURE], have been studied by infrared and Raman techniques. These pseudo four-membered ring molecules are found to possess nonplanar skeletons. A comparative study of the ring-puckering potentials, molecular structures and barriers to ring inversion will be discussed.
