Abstract

Recent thoretical surfaces of Ermler and Kern and Shavitta and Rosenberg for potential and dipole moment functions are used to calculate IR absorption intensities for the water molecule. Using the experimental potentials of Pliva and of Kuchitsu and Morino, experimental IR absorption coefficients are used to obtain the experimental dipole moment of water. These calculations are facilitated by a variational method of vibration analysis.
