Abstract

Infrared spectroscopic techniques combined with optical microscopic observations are used to study the behavior of hydrocarbon - aliphatic acid solutions as model lubricant systems. Studies are conducted in a minature diamond anvil high pressure cell. Data are obtained on kinetics of phase changes and evidence is presented for both short- and long-range ordering effects.
