Abstract
For my thesis, I created a design-system with a developed brand, publication and mobile app that work together to educate consumers about food waste, simplify meal planning and encourage giving back to the food insecure. These elements came together through the grocery store, Ginger, which aims to spread awareness on the economic and environmental costs of food waste in the U.S.
Furthermore, I explored consumer shopping in existing grocery stores to gain a better understanding on the current user journey. I used this information to design a standard floor plan concept for Ginger and created a graphic location plan that includes wayfinding, branding and advertising signs that facilitate in-store education and good behaviors surrounding food waste.
