Abstract
This study abroad program, named Engineering Service-Learning in Guyana, is a humanitarian engineering based program that contains two parts. These parts are an academic course and a trip to Guyana. The course will take place during Autumn 2019, and will involve the group for the program learning about prototyping, researching, developing, and implementing sustainable and culturally appropriate technologies. This time will also allow the group to get to know each other and better formulate their working relationships. Then, during winter break following the end of the semester, the group will fly out to Guyana and stay in a town called Georgetown. This is where the team will be able to implement the knowledge gained from the course, and showcase the teamwork gained from the past semester. In the end, experience will be gained by everyone in the group that will positively serve them during their future career paths in the various fields of engineering. Along with that, participation in this program will offer me and my fellow classmates with crucial work related experience that will aid in future job and/or graduate school applications.
