Abstract

The flash photolysis of gaseous $CF_{2}N_{2}$ has been studied with a rapid-scan infrared spectrometer. An intense transient absorption at $1110 cm^{-1}$ has been recorded and assigned to the intermediate $CF_{2}$, confirming the detection of $CF_{2}$ by Milligan and Jacox, using matrix $techniques.^{1}$ Preliminary analysis of the band contour suggests that the band is a parallel band. Attempts to resolve the P---R separation are in progress. Infrared spectra of other intermediates produced through flash photolysis will be reported.
