Abstract

This project is part of a research-practice partnership between CCS, the Graham Schools and T&L faculty and staff. Research-practice partnerships are unique in that they are driven by school- and community-based questions and concerns rather than university research initiatives solely. In this context, we offered a course on family involvement for OSU students, alongside parents and teachers from our partner schools. Course products included digital stories and action plans addressing family involvement in schools.

Description

IMPACT. 1: Created 30 digital stories of family involvement in schools to be used in future versions of this course and for further learning and research at each of the partner sites. -- 2. Developed 7 collaborative actions plans aimed at supporting and enhancing family involvement at each of the partner sites, to be implemented by school partners in autumn 2017. -- 3. Will offer two sections of the course again in spring 2018 at each partner site, expanding to include additional CCS schools and all of the Graham schools (GHS, GPS/GEMS, and the Charles School). Sections will be designed to include Service Learning opportunities for OSU students.
