Abstract

Pottery sherds recovered from the site of the J. W. McCoy Pottery Co. site permit identification of the company's early "Dutch Ware" line of earthenware cooking ware, which dates to ca. 1908-1911. Fortuitous collecting at the site underscores the value of archaeological survey of such sites even when uninformed officials may insist that "there is nothing there."
