Abstract

In addition to contributing to the fundamental understanding of torsion-vibration interactions in methanol and its isotopic species, a spectroscopic study of $^{13}CD_{3}OH$ is currently of interest in supporting identifications of optically-pumped far-infrared laser lines in this species, particularly the strong and efficient $127 \mu m$ FIR line reported not long $ago.^{1}$ In this work, the microwave absorption spectrum of $^{13}CD_{3}OH$ has been investigated, and the a-type R-branch transitions have been measured for $J=1-0$ and $J=2-1$ for the lowest three torsional states. The asymmetry splittings were observed for the $K=1$ A transitions. In addition, frequencies have been measured for a substantial number of b-type transitions, including the $K=1-0 E1, K=1-2 E1$ and $K_{3}-2$ A Q branches. The frequencies are being fitted to a semi-empirical torsion-rotation model, and the a-type and b-type parameters will be reported.
