Abstract

Water vapor absorption lines from 1400 to $1700 cm^{-1}$ are studied at $0.07 cm^{-1}$ resolving power, using our Hadamard Transform Spectrometer (Appl. Opt. 11, March 1972). This includes the lines reported by Fridovich and Kinard last year. The absorption path conditions are the same -- 92 -- meter geometrical path through pure water vapor at p $<$ 10 mm Hg. The isolated absorption lines are interpreted by curves of growth; the central peak absorption; and maximum slopes, $dA/d\nu$. The purpose of this investigation is to check $S\cdot \gamma$ values in the literature against observations as they apply to conditions near those that obtain in the interstellar medium.
