Abstract

An increasing abundance of invasive species has degraded the Sawmill Wetlands ecosystem and has led to declining biodiversity. The removal of invasive honeysuckles and the outplanting of native shrubs support a healthier vernal pool habitat. Monitoring the presence of macroinvertebrates and amphibians, which serve as bioindicators of water quality, provides a better understanding of the ecosystem’s health and sets a benchmark to use in the future to compare how it changes over time.
