Abstract

The Raman spectra of liquid and solid $N_{2}^{14}O_{4}$ and $N_{2}^{15}O_{4}$ have been examined at $-35^{\circ} C$ using a Cary Model 81 Raman spectrophotometer. Measurements have been made of the isotopic shift of the observed bands. Infrared measurements have also been made of the bands of gaseous and liquid $N_{2}^{14}O_{4}$ and $N_{2}^{15}O_{4}$ using $CsBr_{1}$, NaCl and $CaF_{2}$ prisms. Assignments have been made of the observed bands and these assignments will be discussed in the light of the isotopic product rules involved.
