Abstract

The response of the ($1 \leftarrow 0)_{S} - (2 \leftarrow 1)_{p}$ system in OCS to microwave pulses of a few nanoseconds risetime at pressures up to 600 millitorr has been measured. Interpretation of the transients observer leads directly to values of population and polarization relaxation times for the M = 0 component of the pump transition.
