Abstract

Rovibrational spectra of the vibrational fundamental of nitric oxide have been recorded at 0.006cm−1 resolution using the Solar McMath FTS at the Kitt Peak National Observatory. From these data, line positions, intensities, N2-broadened line widths and N2-induced pressure shifts have been measured thru |m=22.5. For intensities, the first-order Herman-Wallis line intensity constant is in very good agreement with the value predicted by the formulation of Tipping and Ogilvie [J. Mol. Spectrosc. 96, 442 (1982)]. The N2-induced frequency shifts range from -0.001 to −0.002cm−1/atm at room temperature. Finally, we discuss the effect on the retrieved broadening parameters of the hyperfine splittings in the e and f components of the λ doublets.
