Abstract

Vibrational transitions of $^{12}CO_{2}$ and $^{13}CO_{2}$ beyond the Venus bands were observed by means of photoacoustic spectroscopy in the near infrared. These transitions include $5\nu_{3}+(2\nu_{1}, \nu_{1}+2\nu_{2}, 4\nu_{2})$ triad and the stronger components of the $3\nu_{3} + (4\nu_{1}, 3\nu_{1} + 2\nu_{2}, 2\nu_{1} + 4\nu_{2}, \nu_{1} + 6\nu_{2}, 8\nu_{2})$ pentad for both species. The head positions of these bands were determined by using the water lines in the same spectral range. Assignments were performed by comparing the measured positions with calculated values. In addition, some of the hot bands associated with those overtone transitions were identified. Intensity shifts were observed within a given polyad especially for higher order polyad. It was found that the experimental measurements on transition energy, relative position and intensity are in good agreement with the theoretical calculations.
