Abstract
The low temperature emission, absorption, and excitation spectra and the lifetimes of the excited states of several $\pi$-bonded organometallic complexes have been measured, and the experimental results have been correlated with theoretical predictions. The phosphorescence spectra of the dicyclopentadienyl titanium dihalide complexes are broad structureless bands. The relative intensity of phosphorescence increases in the following order: $TiCp_{2}F_{2}<TiCp_{2}<TiCp_{2}Br_{2}$. The dicyclopentadienyl dichloro complexes of hafnium and zirconium have almost identical emission and absorption spectra, as would be expected.
