Abstract

Research directed towards the synthesis of linearly conjugated oligomers (rigid rod linker) with functionalized side chains is described. The strategy is based on bromine-iodide selectivity of the Pd-catalyzed alkyne-aryl-coupling, triisopropylsilyl (TIPS) and trimethylsilyl (TMS) as an acetylene protecting group. Further derivation of the monomers to amides is described. Also, the synthesis of key intermediates has been achieved. The compounds are characterized by 1H spectroscopy. Advisor: Dennis Bong
