Abstract
The infrared spectrum of gaseous di-imide has been obtained under conditions of much higher resolution than hitherto in order to try and obtain evidence for the triplet or singlet character of the ground state. Preliminary results based on the observed intensity alternation seem to indicate a totally symmetric ground state. This is contrary to earlier experimental results but in accord with theoretical expectations.
