The lattice vibrations of $N2/CO$ mixed crystals have been observed in combination with the CO stretch in the infrared, and in combination with both the $N2$ and $CO$ stretches in the Raman, The first moments of these bands have been obtained from the spectra and compared with theoretical models. The observed band shapes indicate that the external motions of the $N2$ and $CO$ molecules are not completely coupled. This is in agreement with the results of our previous Raman study of the lattice region of these crystals.
