Abstract

The B-type hand $\nu_{1} + \nu_{2}$ of $^{14}N^{16}O_{2}$ was recorded at $0.025 cm^{-1}$ resolution. Spin splitting was observed in all but a few transitions. The splitting was fit through the second order and preliminary constants (in cm$^{-1}$) are as follows: \epsilon^{\prime}_{aa}-\frac{1}{2}(\epsilon^{\prime}_{bb}+\epsilon^{\prime}_{cc})=0.2035\pm 0.00050\frac{1}{2}(\epsilon^{\prime}_{bb}+\epsilon^{\prime}_{cc})=-0.00158\pm 0.00002\epsilon^{\prime}_{bb}+\epsilon^{\prime}_{cc}=0.0051\pm 0.0003\eta^{\prime}_{aaaa}=-0.000184\pm 0.000007\eta^{\prime\prime}_{aaaa}=-0.000140\pm 0.000007 The spin corrected line centers were then fit with an asymmetric rotor program with the following preliminary results:\nu_0=2063.117\pm 0.002\mbox{ cm}^{-1}\alpha^{\prime}-\alpha^{\prime\prime}=+0.4898\pm 0.00003{B}^{\prime}-\beta^{\prime\prime}0.00003{C}^{\prime}-{C}{\prime\prime}.00003 where the errors are 3 times the estimated standard deviation. The centrifugal distortion constants have been obtained and will be presented in the final results.
