Abstract

In this report the error models appropriate for a Litton Inertial Survey System when under the control of the Rapid Geodetic Survey System software are empirically investigated. Those which give optimum performance on a traverse-by-traverse basis are then built into the inertial network adjustment program INSURV, which is then fine tuned on a network of inertial data obtained using the high accuracy geodetic control available at the White Sands Missile Range. Results from this network adjustment procedure are presented, together with conclusions and recommendations for future work. The program INSURV is both included and fully documented.
